Have you ever seen a beautiful place nearby littered with pieces of garbage? Have you ever thought that someone should go pick up that trash? You are not alone.
We here in this community accept the call. We walk around and pick up trash. Not only do we get satisfaction of immediate positive community impact, but we also enjoy time outside to exercising. What a fantastic deal!
If you know some places you can clean up, and you are willing to explore your own experiences with this unconventional hobby then please read on!
In my opinion this grabber in particular is the best standard grabber tool I've found. This item will let you grab trash in hard to reach areas like in or under bushes.
Prepare yourself for a nice forearm workout as you repeatedly squeeze the handle. If you rock climb or boulder you will enjoy the motion.
I personally purchased two of the 36-inch models for times when I just need to park my cart and get into the flow of trash pickup motion.
Sometimes it makes more sense to bend down to grab some litter. For that reason (and more) you'll want to make sure your hands are protected. I choose construction grade to protect my hands.
This bright yellow vest will make you visible while working.
I think it is important to be seen and to serve as a productive example in the community.
When I first started this hobby I would carry my trash bag with me. Unfortunately that limited the amount of litter I could pick up to what I could carry. With this wagon I can gather so much more refuse on the side of the road.
I recommend this item so that it is more comfortable to walk from litter pile to litter pile.
You never know what type of trash you will encounter. For that reason I recommend a very sturdy bag.
Don't let sharp objects like broken glass obliterate the integrity of your bag. Use a trash bag that is designed for more heavyduty workloads.
I like this grabber for its extended reach.

I think it's important to have fun and to track progress. Anything you can do it keep yourself returning to the hobby is encouraged.
I like to keep a total count of how many bags of trash I've created. I feel a sense of pride tracking my hobbyist bag count.
Don't spend too much time being frustrated by the trash. It is depressing how some places have been overrun by trash. Focus on how much better a spot looks after you've worked your magic.
It is nice to listen to podcasts, music, and/or audiobooks. It is also nice to go without media and tune into the environment. I have had some fun thoughts when on my own trash patrols.
It takes anywhere from one to two hours to entirely fill a bag with trash. Sometimes I go out to fill a bag. Sometimes I go out with an end time in mind.
I will take the trash bags back to my garage. Once I have three or four filled up I'll put them in my car and drive them to a dumpster.
I really enjoy seeing the space after I've cleaned it. It fills me with a sense of satisfaction cleaning out a space. I know people appreciate the work even if
Ask yourself what place you are going to be cleaning. Get into a good mindset and prepare yourself to do some fun exercise outside. Go outside and have fun!
I recommend spending some time beforehand researching locations of usable dumpsters. Knowing a location you can throw your bags of trash will allow you to make a viable plan. Think of it like your own little garbage supply chain (trash chain 🗑⛓?).
If your experience is like mine, you will sometimes receive people who will thank you for your hobby. When asked for further detail, I will explain the benefits of the hobby and why I find it fun. Sometimes people want to participate. I made this website to be easily shareable -- ask the other person if they have time to scan a QR code!
Are you ready? You can go now if you are ready or place an order for some equipment if you need or want to. Make a plan to go out and then make it happen. Enjoy the rewards of this very quirky hobby!
